COOPERATIVE LEARNING APPROACH THROUGH JIGSAW TECHNIQUE FOR ENHANCING LEARNING OF ODL STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effects of cooperative approach through a jigsaw technique, which is designed and implemented in educational institutions at State Elementary School, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi who taught by students from Open University of Indonesia. In general, the expected goals in early childhood education can be developed by the method with existing conditions. A variety of problems were found in the field, related to learning outcomes. In fact, the teachers are still using traditional teaching method, which is a method of delivery of information or ideas in writing and speaking, in which the position of teachers are in front of the class to deliver the learning materials, while students listen and memorize, sometimes come with questions and exercises. As a result, the less excitement on students came during the class and learning session. Interactions occur in the learning process in one direction, between teachers and students only based on the teacher. This study conducted in primary schools 02 Mustika Jaya, Bekasi, West Java, performed in two cycles. The results showed that there was a significant result that before doing classroom action research, there is 31% of learning outcomes, with 54% of learning outcomes sufficient and 15% less of learning outcomes. Once applied to a cooperative approach with jigsaw technique, it found that 69% of learning outcomes saint either, amount to 26% of learning outcomes sufficient and by 5% less learning outcomes. It showed that 95% of students can follow the lessons developed by teachers with excellent.
